Tennyson St. Pride Parade
Saturday June 21st
Tennyson St Pride Parade returns on June 21st from 4 - 4:25pm.
Local businesses and breweries compete in an itty-bitty float competition and everyone’s a winner at the afterparty with The One and Only Jon Ham starting at 4:30p
Details:
The parade kicks off at 4 pm sharp and will likely last about 25 whole minutes, so even with a coupl of beers before and after, your time commitment is minimal. All you need to do is gather a few folks in your crew and create a quick, tiny “float”! Guerilla Fanfare Brass Band (GUFA) will be leading the parade and playing in the parking lot after.
This year, we are planning on staging at CTA and walking around the block, just like we did for Mardi Gras.
Tiny Float:
Don’t be intimidated by the prospect of creating a tiny float. It can be extremely simple, and shouldn’t take a lot of time to make. And of course it is supposed to be tiny! We usually recommend that it is no bigger than a Radio Flyer wagon. And in fact, that’s what most people use as the base for their float! At the end of the day, it just needs to roll...or be dragged. This is a Pride Parade, so make sure to be colorful! I’m sure you’ll come up with something fun!
We're leaving it up to all of our participants and attendees to choose the best float, and the winning float will receive a $100 donation to the charity of your choice + a $100 bar tab.
Rules:
1. Your float needs to be tiny (under 3 x 6 ft). The size of your standard Radio Flyer wagon is just perfect. Maybe a sled, or a wheelbarrow, or something you have around your house or brewery with wheels.
2. Your float should go along with the Pride theme
3. Your crew may include as many or as few people as you like.
4. This parade will roll rain, snow, or shine. We will roll even if we are all alone.
Times:
3:30: Staging at CTA
4:00: Parade starts goes around the block on the sidewalk and through the alley led by GUFA.
4:25: Parade ends
5:00: The One and Only Jon Ham
Voting on the Winner:
When we get back from the parade, we'll line all of the floats up outside and place a container on each float where customers can place their votes. We will then tally votes the next day and let you all know who gets all of the bragging rights! Lastly, in years past, we have allowed breweries to store their float in the brew house after the parade. We just need all of them picked up by Monday at 3 PM.
Prizes:
1st Place: Receives a $100 donation to a charity of your choice + a $100 bar gift card for your crew
2nd Place: $50 donation to a charity of your choice + $50 gift card
3rd Place and beyond: $25 Donation to a charity of your choice + $25 gift card
